The Omaha (NE) World-Herald (6/3) reports Creighton University’s Economic Forecasting Group said Monday that surveys of Nebraska and Iowa business supply managers indicate that manufacturing in the region is making a turnaround. The Mid-America Business Conditions Index, at a level of 60.5 in the nine-state region for May, indicates the region’s economy will be expanding over the next three to six months, and with that the region can expect an uptick in the number of manufacturing jobs. In conjunction with the index, the survey showed that employment levels were at the highest level in over a year, with durable and nondurable goods manufacturers both adding jobs.
