Missouri’s unemployment, though still under the national rate, edged up two-tenths of a percent this June, reports the Missouri Department of Economic Development.
Missouri has been below the national unemployment rate for 25 consecutive months. The state now sits at 4.5 percent while the nations’ unemployment rate is 4.9 percent. The leisure and hospitality industry grew the most in June, with an addition of 2,800 new jobs.
There is great news for the manufacturing industry, however. HS Baking has just announced it will be opening a new flagship bakery in Joplin- a development that will create 60 new jobs in the area. They are looking to fill a variety of positions, including but not limited to, purchasing manager, plant engineer, packing operators, oven and dough machine operators, and other office and warehouse positions.
