NAM: Private employers added 188,000 jobs last month

USA Today (7/3, Davidson) reports private payrolls increased by 188,000 jobs last month, payroll processing firm ADP reportedWednesday. “Small businesses added 84,000 jobs, midsize ones, 55,000 and large companies, 49,000, ADP said.”

US News & World Report (7/3, Kurtzleben) reported the “the trade, transportation, and utilities industry added 43,000 jobs last month, and professional and business services grew by 40,000 jobs.” Construction added “21,000 jobs, suggesting that a housing recovery may be benefiting the industry.” Manufacturing added only 1,000 jobs.

Bloomberg News (7/3, Woellert) reported, “Companies added workers last month as home prices strengthened and Americans continued to buy cars, electronics and other goods in the face of higher taxes that took effect in January.”

On its website, CNBC (7/3, Cox) reported, “The report sets the stage for Friday’s nonfarm payrolls report from the government, which is expected to show 163,000 new jobs in the private and public sector combined.”
